Tina helps growth-minded business owners make faster, better-informed decisions. It sounds simple—and to her clients, it appears that way—but that’s just part of the value Tina delivers. In reality, she takes accounting and finance tasks off the shoulders of small- to medium-sized business owners so they can focus on growing their companies, with the assurance that their financial information and processes are in good hands.
Tina gets the challenges that business owners face because she is one herself. Since 2010, she has served as Hamilton Tharp’s managing partner, overseeing all administrative functions and staffing. In 2008, Tina created the firm’s business management division, which provides an invaluable suite of services to growing companies. Built from her own foundation of consulting experience and financial management expertise, Tina’s team now consists of knowledgeable staff who are all equally dedicated to helping clients achieve their financial visions.
As a strategic partner to her clients, Tina helps identify the options they need to move their businesses forward. The areas she consults on vary widely, and they are not all accounting-related. Tina has helped clients with everything from accounting software conversions to multi-state office accounting, coordination and process improvements.
Tina’s unique background transcends public accounting and includes many years of private industry accounting experience – which includes time as a controller for the Latin America division of a large consulting firm in Chicago. There, she traveled internationally, setting up accounting offices, consulting and serving as a part-time CFO for a wide variety of privately held, emerging companies. She combines that knowledge with her experience as both a business owner and consultant to provide creative solutions that unlock hidden potential for growth and operational efficiency.
A San Diego native, Tina enjoys her coastal community, especially early-morning walks with her dogs, visiting the theater, and spending time with her friends and family. She volunteers for numerous local nonprofit organizations that support business, children and animals. Tina is a past board member of the Solana Beach Chamber of Commerce and a past board member for the Canyon Crest Academy Foundation, for both of which she provides financial advice, leadership and fundraising support.

Founding Partner Judy Hamilton says the key to helping clients achieve their financial goals—whether they include minimizing tax liabilities or maximizing profits—is knowing what questions to ask. With her extensive experience and deep expertise, Judy skillfully interviews her clients and quickly gains an understanding of their specific circumstances. Armed with relevant information, Judy then helps her clients make financially advantageous choices when they’re facing complex issues like ownership transitions, stock options and awards and real property exchanges. She specializes in tax planning and compliance for high net worth individuals, small business owners and corporate executives and offers specific expertise in executive compensation, real estate and M&A transactions.
In addition to her robust tax practice, Judy also provides business consulting and advisory services. Under that umbrella, she has helped clients navigate a variety of challenges, from entity set-up to accounting process optimization to succession planning. Helping her clients achieve their financial goals and position themselves for financially sound futures is Judy’s passion, and she particularly enjoys the forward-looking aspect of her work.
Judy founded Hamilton Accountancy Corporation (predecessor to Hamilton Tharp LLP) in 1980 with a desire to work with smaller companies and individuals after spending several years serving large real estate developers, manufacturers, hospitals and airlines as an auditor and consultant for Arthur Young & Co. She started her firm with one client and through consistent, high-quality, personalized service, grew it to the diverse, 1,000+ client base she oversees today.
Judy earned an MBA and a BA in accounting with distinction from San Diego State University, where she later taught courses in taxation. She is a licensed CPA in California and member of the AICPA. She also holds a Series 65 license and is a Registered Investment Advisor.
Actively involved in serving her local community, Judy has served on various boards and currently is a member of the Board of Trustees of the California Center for the Arts and the Budget and Finance Committee of the City of Solana Beach. She was the first recipient of the San Diego “Women who Mean Business” award in accounting.
Judy loves sports. In fact, she has played basketball and soccer for most of her life. She holds season tickets for San Diego State football and basketball games, and when it comes time to read the newspaper in her household, Judy always grabs the sports page first. With a personal passion for athletics and knowledge of the multi-state taxation issues professional team players face, Judy founded the Sports & Entertainment division of Hamilton Tharp in 1981. She has since enjoyed providing financial, accounting and tax services to professional athletes, agents and coaches in baseball, football, basketball and volleyball.

Joan Wolfe provides tax planning and compliance services to help individuals, estates, trusts and closely held businesses take advantage of tax-saving opportunities specific to their circumstances. Joan also provides IRS and Franchise Tax Board audit representation services, advocating on behalf of clients under audit.
Specializing in estate and trust taxation, Joan strives to ease the burdens of those who have lost a loved one. In addition to the emotional strain, the requirements of estate and trust administration can be time consuming and onerous. Joan provides guidance for clients in those circumstances, helping them to anticipate problems and identify the right solutions. She helps break down the administration by providing the steps needed to convert the overwhelming into smaller, more manageable tasks. “Settling an estate or trust can be time consuming and frustrating, but I am here to guide and assist my clients to make the work as easy as possible”, Joan says.
Joan assists trustees, executors and estate planning attorneys with the many tasks required to administer trusts and estates, including preparing final individual income tax returns for decedents, estate tax returns (Form 706) and fiduciary income tax returns (Form 1041). She also provides fiduciary accounting, tax planning for trust termination and assists attorneys with trust funding. She helps her clients plan for and pursue tax-minimization strategies such as traditional-to-Roth IRA conversions and year-end selections for fiduciary income tax returns.
Born and raised in Washington state, Joan has called San Diego home since 1981. She completed her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from National University in 1984, started working as a staff accountant and became a CPA in 1987. After working in the tax departments of large local accounting firms for almost 10 years, she started her own tax practice, which was merged into Hamilton Accountancy Corporation in 1997.

A licensed CPA, Kim helps her clients achieve their financial goals by being available to answer questions and taking a step back to look at the bigger picture, suggesting creative solutions for her clients’ tax and life-long wealth planning. To act as a true business advisor to her clients, Kim has a very in-depth knowledge of the accounting related to the financials of business owners to not only help them minimize taxes but maximize profit. She is passionate about her work and highly values the client relationships she has developed. She enjoys providing leadership and mentorship to up-and-coming accountants at the firm to try and inspire them to be great at what they do.
Born in Merced, California, Kim moved to San Diego in 2006 upon attending San Diego State University. As a four-year letter winner for the SDSU women’s basketball team, Kim graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 2010. She was named to the Mountain West Conference All-Academic team and Dean’s list for the 2007 – 2008 season and received the SDSU Scholar-Athlete award seven out of eight semesters. She began her accounting career at a San Diego accounting firm for the first eight years and worked her way up to manager before joining Hamilton Tharp, LLP. She is a licensed CPA in California and a member of the AICPA and Aztec Varsity Club.
Kim serves on the Alumni Board and Intercollegiate Athletics Committee at San Diego State University. She previously volunteered for Rebuilding Together San Diego and Home of Guiding Hands Audit Committee. She is often at the forefront of recruiting for the firm and is part of the Aztec Mentoring Program, acting as a mentor to students of all majors at the university.
Kim is an avid fan of all sports and is often found at sporting venues across the country and, most notably, at Aztec basketball and football games. You can find Kim riding her Peloton, spending time on the golf course or enjoying time with her wife, Michelle, and their two Labradoodles, Callie and Jax.
