Staff Accountant

Our Firm provides services well beyond our clients’ expectations, including complete accounting, tax, and advisory services to a variety of individuals and businesses. We offer an exciting, up-tempo and challenging work environment situated on a beautiful campus in Solana Beach. Founded in 1980, Hamilton Tharp, LLP has assembled a team of top tax and accounting professionals to assist clients in reaching their financial and life goals. We are looking to hire a Staff Accountant with an ambitious drive and a desire to work in public accounting while pursuing their CPA certification. Our Staff Accountant’s are given the opportunity to work closely with several of San Diego’s experts in tax and accounting.

Role:

The Staff Accountant’s precision and attentiveness are critical to the ability of the Firm’s Accountants to perform their functions efficiently and effectively. A successful Staff Accountant at Hamilton Tharp, LLP performs a variety of accounting and financial reporting tasks for specific clients, as well as prepares individual, fiduciary, partnership, non-profit, and corporate returns. You will receive informational training and support, while working directly with your Manager and other skilled members of our staff. This position will also be assisting with general accounting duties, which might include assisting clients with financials and producing statements from client material and handles special projects as required by the Firm.

Responsibilities

  • Completes corporate, individual, partnership, fiduciary and other tax returns prepared by the Firm under the supervision of knowledgeable staff members.
  • Performs general bookkeeping functions for a variety of clients.
  • Processes 1099’s, sales tax returns, and business property statements.
  • Assists clients in payroll preparation and monitors compliance.
  • Supervises the activities of, and trains, interns in conjunction with a Manager or Senior Accountant.

Knowledge, Experience
& Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, and pursuing CPA license.
  • Zero to three years experience in public accounting.
  • Familiarity with pertinent IRC sections and state rules and regulations.
  • High proficiency in standard accounting and payroll software.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices and procedures in the Accounting field.
