Senior Accountant

Our Firm provides services well beyond our clients’ expectations, including complete accounting, tax, and advisory services to a variety of individuals and businesses. We offer an exciting, up-tempo and challenging work environment situated on a beautiful campus in Solana Beach. Founded in 1980, Hamilton Tharp, LLP has assembled a team of top tax and accounting professionals to assist clients in reaching their financial and life goals. We are looking to hire a Staff Accountant with an ambitious drive and a desire to work in public accounting while pursuing their CPA certification. Our Staff Accountant’s are given the opportunity to work closely with several of San Diego’s experts in tax and accounting.

Role:

A successful Senior Accountant at Hamilton Tharp, LLP is able to perform a variety of accounting and financial reporting tasks for specific clients and make decisions on most accounting and tax matters. In this position, you will prepare individual, fiduciary, corporate, partnership, and non-profit returns with little supervision. Additionally, you will be responsible for reviewing tax returns prepared by others and assume responsibility for planning and supervising these engagements. Both management and technical knowledge are required for the review and evaluation process of staff accountants and interns. The Senior Accountant’s proficiency in tax and accounting techniques, including knowledge of the reference sources available to the Firm, the ability to monitor budgets, communication within the firm and proactive and extensive client contact are crucial to this position. Applying an extensive knowledge of accounting principles and financial expertise to the daily decisions made when servicing clients’ accounts is critical to the Firm’s reputation as a high-quality service provider.

Knowledge, Experience
& Requirements

  • Accounting degree and CPA license.
  • Five to seven years’ experience in public accounting.
  • Proficiency in pertinent IRC sections and regulations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with professional accounting and tax software.
  • Expertise in standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the Accounting field.
